Artist Talk by Safinah Ali

Abstract

In this talk, Safinah Ali will share her work researching social and educational robots. Her projects explore how AI tools can support human creativity and learning, how robots can be seen as social agents, and how to promote AI literacy among young students. Safinah will discuss how she makes inclusive AI curricula and deploys these resources to teachers and students around the world. She will also explore her work with social robots at the MIT Media Lab, from the expressive companion JIBO to art-making machines like DoodleBot. Safinah’s long-term research demonstrates how robots and AI lead to new forms of student engagement and new kinds of art education.
