Embodied Architecture explores a new way of telling the master narrative of Chinese architecture. Our key question is: what is the design logic behind Chinese architecture? Focusing on the monuments from the 3rd century to the 11th century, we explore the mental blueprints behind Chinese architecture. In each case, space, sculpture, and painting are examined as an organic structure. Bringing together architectural history and art history, we fully examine the imagination of body, cosmology, ritual embodied by the monuments. Based on the in-depth research, this project will produce an immersive digital theatre and an online theatre that invite modern visitors to step into the space, culture, and imagination of Chinese architecture.
