Inconceivable

Works

Inconceivable to Comprehend is developed using CAMLab’s transparent display system, reconstructing the visual experience of transparent glass through 3D scanning. Objects gradually vanish within data, while voids become the visible form. Drawing on the Buddhist notion of liuli, the work transforms “transparency” into a state, producing a disjunction among art history, perception, technology, and existence.

The installation The Gaze of Transparency uses glass vessels and lighting as its medium. Through performative interventions that disrupt their functional use, the work shifts toward a more distilled atmosphere, constructing a “liuli world” that is at once familiar and estranged. The glass objects are collected and sourced from everyday life, carrying traces of the surrounding community. Under the action of light, the forms of the vessels intertwine with the aura of glass, allowing viewers to move between utility and atmosphere, and to reawaken a contemplative perception of liuli—inconceivable, beyond articulation.
